The Beacon

Cosdon Beacon is a hill on Northern Dartmoor and never fails to embrace my desire to study it photographically throughout the myriad of changing weather patterns and seasonal developments. This silent giant has remained a fascinating companion of many evocative facets. Its undulating appearance bears the scars of wisdom that can radiate a wealth of personalities,  from the innate calm of a snow capped summit to the sumptuous warmth of a hot summer sunset. 

This curvaceous lump dominates the area around here. Its sleek outline is a comforting landmark, seen from miles around, and it gives you a bearing from which  you can get a sense of place and being.

In this exhibition, rather than getting involved with the technicalities of photography, I have worked on the emotions felt looking at the light, weather and the wild arial drama experienced in this part of Dartmoor.
