This magnificent building was built in 1911 for Julius Drewe. It was designed by the famous architect Edwin Lutyens and took 19 years to build. Standing majestically at the head of the Teign gorge the castle commands an awesome view of North East Dartmoor.

Unfortunately there is a major problem with water ingress through the flat roof and the lintels of the windows and doors. A huge renovation project is underway to replace the windows and the faulty asphalt barrier on the roof. This entails removing all the large granite stone blocks and slabs to replace the leaking asphalt with a more efficient modern waterproof membrane.

The national trust has asked me to archive some of the herculean tasks the builders are undertaking to restore the castle back to its former glory.
